Pain, pregnancy, and the pelvic floor
Chiropractic and pregnancy
I spent a weekend at a chiropractic seminar learning more about how I can best help my pregnant patients to have a comfortable and active pregnancy.
Pregnancy and changes to your body
Due to changes that occur during pregnancy a women may start to experience pain, discomfort or stiffness in many areas of her body. Over the course of the pregnancy different areas of the body will be under increased stress, this will change month to month as the baby grows and develops.
Initially issues may be noticed in the pelvis and low back. This can range from general low back stiffness to pain in the pelvis and pubic symphysis. As posture changes begin with the baby’s increase in size tightness may be noted in the diaphragm, ribs and mid back. At the end of the pregnancy any of these areas can be causing issues.
Chiropractic and pregnancy
Pregnancy does not have to equal pain. During the seminar I learnt many different chiropractic techniques to release the soft tissue structures around the uterus and pelvic floor along with gentle adjustments to get you moving and feeling better.
